DollyCrane HD coming in June!

We have finally had confirmation that the new DollyCrane HD will start shipping in June 2012

The DollyCrane HD, which will accommodate camera/head combinations up to 32kg, will be supplied as standard in the new Floatcam flight cases for an introductory price of £5995 + vat & delivery

We expect demand to be high from all the global dealers, and as such are going to be taking pre-orders with a 25% deposit to secure your order. This will enable us to ensure a prompt delivery and minimum waiting times once the DCHD starts shipping.

In the Mood feat. The Polka Dots

Angelic Films recently used the Floatcam FC14 and Dollycrane for their musical short film ‘In The Mood’, from which this excerpt is taken.

The entire 15 minute film was shot in 2 days on location in South Bucks, and the Floatcam kit enabled the production team to move quickly between setups whilst retaining a high level of production value.

It was shot on Sony F3′s using Canon Prime lenses, and the FC14 also had a Preston LCS and cinetape mounted on the sled, and all powered from a single 12v Anton Bauer battery on the sleds dual battery mounts.

The film was photographed by Trevor Coop, and the FC14 operator was our very own Adam Coop.

As with most film grip equipment, our DC spends a lot of time being dragged in and out of the back of vehicles, to and from film sets and even through international airports. So in order to better survive these testing conditions, we have commissioned a set of tough lightweight flightcases to accommodate the DollyCrane, and convey it in warmth and safety anywhere in the world.

The flightcases are now offered as an option with new DC orders.

The cases are designed to accommodate the standard laser cut foam inserts currently supplied with the standard soft cases.

After a brief delay in delivery, we now have the DollyCrane back in the stock in the UK! But get in quick, as they are going fast!

Used FC9C for sale.

This is a rare opportunity to buy a near mint condition FC9C rig for a fraction of the new price.

Originally supplied by us in 2009, the rig has been very lightly used, and well looked after. It comes supplied in a new soft case, and includes the FC9C spring arm, FC9C DV sled, front mounted vest, 7″ monitor & Sony DV battery mount, docking bracket, counterweights, cables and manual.

The new price of this rig is £3395 + vat but we are offering this unit for just £2250 + vat & delivery. That’s a saving of over £1000!!! VMI order a 2nd DollyCrane

VMI have become the first multiple DollyCrane owner in the UK after ordering another unit to add to their rental fleet.

FC12C HD-SDI Upgrade now available.

You can now have your FC12 sled upgraded from SD to HD-SDI wiring to make it more RED friendly!

Instead of cluttering your sled up with HD-SD downconverters with taped on 12v batteries, or running a BNC down the outside of the post, you will now be able to run an HD-SDI signal through the sled to your 3rd party HD monitor of choice with this simple and low cost upgrade.

We will disassemble your sled, strip out the old SD video cabling and replace it with shiny new 3GBPS HD-SDI cable instead, along with a new BNC breakout box on the bottom stage. We will check over the sled and ensure that it is returned in perfect condition. If your sled has been damaged, we can also take this opportunity to service the gimbal, replace the handle foam, replace bent or damaged BNC and lemo plugs on the topstage LX box, or anything else that needs doing! Any additional work will be subject to a secondary quote.

We are also working on upgrading the power cabling to 15A RED friendly power, with Lemo6 plugs to ensure that your RED has all the juice it needs when powered through the sled, so no need for on-board RED brick batteries weighing you down. More details coming soon!

Whilst the FC14 is designed specifically with the RED in mind, you can pimp your FC12 to fly this, and other HD only cameras with relative ease.

Approved Fluid Heads – Revised

We have had to revise our list of approved fluid heads for the DollyCrane. Please see the DollyCrane for more details. The Manfrotto 519 head requires an additional MN325N ball adaptor for use on the DollyCrane. We are currently testing a wider range of heads for use with the DollyCrane. More details to follow.

News from IBC!

We have just finished a very successful show at IBC, showing the full range of Floatcam equipment, and made some exciting announcements!

Floatcam Motion Control – the new MoCo unit for the DollyCrane was introduced at IBC, and will be available in late 2011. Pricing TBC.

Floatcam DollyCrane HD – A new heavyweight version of the award winning DollyCrane has been announced, and should be available later this year. The new DC HD will accommodate a camera and head combination up to 32KG, opening its unique capabilities up to almost all current camera systems including 35mm, D21,  Alexa and F35, as well as the RED, EPIC and ENG style cameras. Pricing is expected to be around £5295 + vat & delivery

The introductory pricing period for the DollyCrane has now ended, and the Floatcam DollyCrane is now £3495 + vat & delivery.
